Winning a Scholarship Quick Reference Guide

College Greenlight  At College Greenlight we connect first generation and underrepresented students to caring colleges, generous scholarships, and life-changing counselors and mentors.Its mission is to improve college access for low income and first generation students. College Greenlight has an online application where students set up a profile and then they can apply to any of their partner colleges with no application fee, and with a single application. Students set up a profile, and get notifications from colleges that are interested in communicating with them.  Students have the option of accepting the invitation, in which case the college sends them messages through the website, or declining the invitation, in which case they shouldn't hear any more from that college.   • Deadline varies - multiple scholarships available; Wendy's Highschool Heisman Scholarship All Female and Male Athletes participating in a recognized sport (full list available on websiet) Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better; Be a leader in school and in the community and serve asa role model for underclassmen.

  • July 31, 07/31/2019 The Senior Home.com Scholarship $1,000 The SeniorHomes.com Caregiver Scholarship is intended for students who are passionate about helping seniors live healthy lives and are pursuing careers in senior care. The award can be used towards tuition and/or books.

    • Applicant Eligibility: Applicants must be actively enrolled in or accepted to attend a U.S. college or university and pursuing a career in senior care.

      Application Requirements: Applicants must submit either a 500-word essay or 2-3 minute video addressing a topic related to elder care.

  • June 30, 06/30/2019 Annual community volunteer Scholarship $1,500 scholarship to the applicant who best demonstrates exceptional volunteer involveent in their community

  • June 30, 06/30/2019 The Recovery Village is dedicated to maintaining exceptional service while providing unique opportunities for education and personal development. As part of this commitment, The Recovery Village is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing a medical-related course of study. To enter to win a $1,000 scholarship, simply submit a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing why you are passionate about substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Essays can be in the form of a personal narrative with a medical perspective or focus specifically on clinical experience.

  • May 17, 05/17/2019 Georgia Future Champions Scholarship It is a video/essay scholarship about how students plan to be "champions" in their chosen fields in order to help their communities. It is open to any student who has been accepted to a college or university in Georgia.

  • March TBA Willows Lions Club Scholarships in the amounts from &750 - $1,000. No online application. Eligibility includes Community Service, Extra-Curricular Activities and Financial Need, and Describe Career Goals. See Ms. Robinson for scholarship application eligibility requirements and application form. Applications need to be MAILED directly to the Willow’s Lions Club and RECEIVED by Mail by March 30th.   • March TBA California Association of Winegrape Growers Foundation Scholarships  is offering  two $8,000 and four $2,000 scholarships.

  • March TBA State Council Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California, Inc. Scholarship for $500. Applicants must be of Portuguese descent and a USA Citizen or permanent resident.

    • GPA 3.50 total Weighted, 3 letters of recommendaation, participated in at least 3 extra-curricular activities while in high school and complete the essay.

  • March TBA Italian Catholic Federation is offering scholarships to students who are of the Italian ancestry and who are of the Roman Catholic Faith.

  • March 15, Date TBA Annual Scholarship 2019 Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarships $500 awards. Applicants must be of Portuguese descent and be a USA citizen or permanent resident.

  • March 13, 03/13/2019 Tri Counties Bank Scholarship Program $1,500 award for a 4-year college and up to $1,000 attending a community college.

 

  • March 8, 03/08/2019 California Association of Winegrape Growers Foundation is offering at least two four-year scholarships worth $8,000 and four two-year scholarships worth $2,000 each.
  • March TBA Butte College Foundation Scholarship for students applying for the 2018-2019 school year.
    • The on-line application is open through March 8, 2017. After this date, the application period will close and the review process will begin. Students will be notified during the summer via their Butte college email as to whether they have received an award.

  • February 28, 02/28/2019 Courses 2019 Scholarship Program Amount: 2 x $2,500 ($5,000 USD total) Field of Study: Any Applications Open: 15th November 2018

    • Eligibility: Seniors, Undergrads and Grad Students who are enrolled to attend an accredited college or university 

      Application Process: To apply for the scholarship, students need to complete the following:
      1. Provide proof of enrollment or application to an accredited university or college to complete an undergraduate or graduate qualification.
      2. Submit a 500 word essay. Applicants will be judged on the content of the essay they provide on the topic of: "How online learning can help prepare students for the skilled labour requirements in an increasingly automated economy."
      3. Provide a summary of their best academic achievements and/or their current extracurricular activities.

  • February 15, 02/15/2019 Annual  Glenn County Scholarship Foundation - applications available online beginning January 2019 (Printed Copy of Scholarship Forms DUE TO SCHOOL COUNSELOR MS. ROBINSON) Online application.ONE APPLICATION WILL ALLOW A STUDENT TO APPLY FOR THE FOLLOWING SCHOLARSHIPS if they meet the qualifications:

    • Porter Welding Memorial One $1,500 scholarships all Glenn County High School seniors are eligible to apply if student is going to a college or trade school to learn a skilled trade the Fall following high school graduation.
    • Glenn Chapter of the Chico Board of Realtors Association: Four seperate $500 scholarship for a graduate of each of the 5 Glenn County high schools who has a career goal in Business or real estate field and who has not received numerous other scholarships and at least a 3.0 GPA
    • Johns Manville Scholarship: the Johns Manville, Inc., manufacturer of quality insulation and a major employer of Glenn County, sponsors four (4) $1,000 scholarships: One for Princeton, Elk Creek and Wm. Finch; one $1,000 for HHS; one $1,000 for OHS; and one $1,000 for WHS. The scholarship will be awarded to the two top students who apply from each school, and has at least a 3.0 GPA.
    • Westside Anglers: A $250 scholarship for two graduates of any Glenn County high school student with a career goal in any combination of Agriculture, Farming, Biology, and Wild Life Management and a GPA 3.0 or higher.
    • CSEA Westside Chapter 718: A $100.00 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving graduate from any Glenn County High School who has a career goal in either: paraprofessional positions, classified school positions, classified employee positions (outside of the education field) or vocational/trade school. At least a 3.0 GPA
    • Willows Car and Bike Show: A total of $5,000 in scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from any of the (7) high schools in Glenn County. GPA 3.0 or higher; Two (2) letters of recommendation; One (1) from an educator, one (1) from a non-school community member (neither should be from a relative). A typed essay why you feel you should be selected; your plans and goals after you complete your educations, and what its attainment will mean to your community/society.
    • Willows Rotary Scholarship: Four $1,000 scholarships for a student in each of the high schools in the Willows Rotary Service Area (Princeton, Willows, Elk Creek, Wm Finch) who demonstrate: 1). a 3.0 GPA and high financial need, 2) a 3.0 GPA and achievement in leadership; 3). a 2.5 GPA and a career goal in a vocational area, 4). a student having high achievement 3.5 GPA
    • Colusa Western Days: A $250 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving graduate from a Glenn County High School who has a career goal in agriculture and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • Trade Makers Scholarship Fund: Three scholarships a total of $3,500, the scholarships are as follows: 1-$2,000; 1=$1,000; 1=$500. The scholarships will be awarded to graduating senior of andy Glenn County School who have a career in the trade field. A GPA of 2.5 or higher who has an immediate family member/background in Military, Law Enforcement, or First Responder.
    • Eligibility: a 3.0 GPA is required for all scholarships unless otherwise indicated and a completed "Activities Record" form

  • February TBA CSU, Chico Wildcat Scholarships. California State University, Chico provides opportunities for scholarship awards to eligible students. New and continuing students are encouraged to apply by submitting the online Wildcat Scholarship Applicaton. see webpage for eligibility criteria

    • February TBA 2019  Colusa County Scholarship Foundation, Inc. This scholarship application form makes you eligible for MANY scholarship awards. Please take particular care in completing the scholarship form. The scholarship application is a hard copy or paper copy. No online application form will be available. Application forms are available in the school office and/or available through your school counselor. See below student eligibility requirements. no online application.

      • Must be planning a major in agricultural production, crops or livestock.
      • Ag. Business also qualifies, however Ornamental Horticulture does not.
      • If the major is Ag. Business, the essay must relate that field to agriculture in Northern California.
      • Must be going to a two or four year college.
      • Must have 3.0 GPA
      • Must write a one page, single spaced, "8 1/2 x 11" essay on agricultural production, crops or livestock, as it relates to Northern California.
      • To apply attach the essay to your Colusa County Scholarship Foundation application DUE to School Counselor TBD.
      • No online application is available
      • Student Eligibility
        • Copy of your transcript. The school counselor will attach a copy of your transcript when you submit your scholarship application forms.
        • A personal interview is a required part of the application process. Interviews will be scheduled. Interviews will be in the conference room of the Colusa County Library at 7th and Market Street, Colusa. You will be notified of the day and time in ample time for you to make a change if necessary.
        • Fully complete the scholarship application and return the completed application to you Counselor by February  2019 - date to be announced in the future.
        • Letter of recommendation must be from someone who is not a family member or school employee. The Letter of Recommendation must be returned to the SCHOOL COUNSELOR  and not returned or given to the student. It is suggested you prepare an envelope addressed to your counselor for this purpose.
        • A cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
        • A High School Graduating this Spring.
  •      In additon to the Colusa County Scholarships: California Family Foods of Arbuckle is providing a $500.00 scholarship for each Colusa County high school with the following criteria:

  • January 1, 01/01/2019 BeActive $1,000 Scholarship, 2nd prize $500 and 3rd prize $250

  • December 31, 12/31/2018 Senior Advisor.com Future of Assisted Living Scholarship $2,000 The Future of Assisted Living Scholarship offers a $2,000 award to three students who are majoring in a field of study related to gerontology or senior care.

    • Applicant Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate level program at an accredited institution in the United States or Canada.

      Application Requirements: Applications consist of a 250-word personal bio, and a 500-700 word essay on improving the lives of seniors in assisted living facilities.
